Environmental Health & Safety Manager


$100-120K + bonus

Fortune owned, nonunion, manufacturer of specialized power systems seeking a strong and dedicated EHS Manager for their two facilities. These are two close manufacturing sites totaling 700 to 1,000 for their manufacturing operations. This position will develop a culturally acceptable safety system built on creativity and people engagement, as well as implement and refine all Safety procedures & programs in accordance with regulatory and corporate EHS requirements to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This is two vertically integrated manufacturing facilities and includes metal forming, welding, stamping, painting and electronic parts assembly, both electrical and mechanical.

Qualifications include Bachelors degree in an EH&S related technical, scientific or engineering discipline, Industrial Hygiene, and appropriate certifications desired such as OSHA affiliated certification programs, other examples – CSP and CIH recognized. A minimum of five years of EHS experience in a large plant or multiple plants is required 500 to 900 preferred. Must also have experience managing others as well as Project Management and strong Organizational experience, previous experience working within a Lean Manufacturing work environment is preferred along with experience in behavioral based safety program development. Must have experience in the collection, evaluation and reporting of EHS data, working and communicating with others at various levels within the organization, thorough knowledge of OSHA, DOT and some EPA regulations and excellent PC skills in a Windows environment. Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio desired, must be able to communicate with everyone from frontline employees, to corporate personnel in various functions and have the ability to build relationships and gain cross-functional support. Coordinates with Corp EHS.
Candidate will be responsible for managing and leading EH&S initiatives in areas such as: ergonomics, electrical safety, machine guarding, confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out. Will also be responsible for the review of associated incident and injury data and conduct follow up interviews and investigations, manage facility workers compensation program including return to work program, manage emergency response capabilities, conduct all accident and near miss investigations, work in conjunction with plant engineering to maintain all safety systems, review and approve the proposed introduction of new chemicals, equipment and processes to the site, provide input to site managers by identifying and tracking appropriate safety metrics and assessing performance. Also important is working with facilities to assist with continuous improvement, review and interpret new and proposed regulations for applicability, develop training programs and procedures, and participate in professional industry groups. The EH&S Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. This position has potential for promotion.
