Senior International Buyer



Excellent Supplier Development / Marketing lead role for a kitchen cabinet manufacturer. This facility manufactures high volume durable kitchen cabinet products including accessories, flooring, and cabinetry products – solutions for the cabinetry industry. This requires travel to China and Asia. Chinese proficiency is a real plus, obviously.


REQUIREMENTS: Four-year degree preferred with ten to fifteen years of progressively higher levels of materials management experience in high volume manufacturing. Must know the Asian culture well, excellent sourcing proficiencies as well as reducing product flow issues, this includes planning, scheduling, inventory modeling/control and logistics, and demonstrated experience with strong measurements and proven results utilizing lean implementation. This individual must have strong inventory management, vender management, and strong purchasing experience product lifecycle planning sourcing to meet business needs without excessive obsolescence or cash flow constraints from overbuying.

Requires excellent communications, problem solving, root cause analysis with strong countermeasure experiences, as well as proven ability to work and lead in a full supply chain environment. Must have a background implementing best practices environment with inventories management and lean application. Must be excellent with partnering with various cross functional departments with strong strategic vision abilities. Must also have a sound ability for multi project management. This position reports directly to the CEO and requires extensive travel to China.


DUTIES: Will be responsible for directing all aspects of vender development and management – day to day inventory, product life cycle planning, sourcing, and product flow processes. This role is an individual contributor requiring strong work collaboration using lean tools in a tactical and strategic method to insure excellent cost and materials proficiencies. This person maintains continuous improvement in optimizing replenishment systems to assure continuing reduction of lead-time and inventories. Measurements include: Inventory optimization and flow, Supplier development and lead-time reductions, Cost reductions, and total marketing optimization.


  • Ensure product mix is innovative, compliant, compellingand available without overbuying.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Supply Chain and Store Ops to introduce new products from vendor to set-up to training to shelf to promotionin a timely manner.
  • Clear out older lifecycle products while maximizing sales, margin and minimizing inventory within the needs of the agreed-up merchandising mix.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Store Ops on an allocation strategy that is efficient and timely to stores/customers.
  • Work with Marketing to develop a promotional cadence that is effective and supported by inventory.
  • Partner with Compliance to not only ensure vendor base is producing quality, compliant product, but also that they are informed and trained to sustain flow throughout the year (vendor development.)
  • Own the relationship with vendors as one point of contact on issues and opportunities.
  • Execute a global sourcing strategy that maximizes innovation and efficiency while mitigating the risk of product flow disruption.
  • Work with Marketing on visual merchandising and in-store experience.
