Director of Operations


$175-200K + Bonus

Direct the manufacturing operations at the Hesston facility (vertically integrated, high mix build fabrication, assembly and automated paint industrial manufacturing environment) consisting of 7 business unit, manufacturing plants, 1.8 million square feet under roof, with approximately 1,000 employees. Ensure full utilization of all available resources to the manufacture of the highest quality components / finished goods while maintaining considerable diligence to Operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of Safety (Incident Rates), Quality (Right First Time and Defects per Unit), Delivery (Build to Schedule Compliance), Productivity (Operating Efficiency), Continuous Improvement (Elimination of Waste) and Sales & Operations Planning.



  • Direct responsibility for the facilitys operational performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Continuous Improvement, Efficiency, and Cost.
  • Responsible for identifying, growing and developing the talent in the operations organization resulting in improved leadership
  • Meet product build plans and sales forecasts by developing production planning and scheduling systems, optimizing labor, equipment and inventory resources; examining and resolving schedule and quality nonconformities and
  • Exercise direct leadership over Manufacturing Management Team with respect to safety initiatives, production volumes, cost and quality to meet operations and customer delivery
  • Implement world class LEAN / Continuous Improvement production
  • Meet financial objectives and goals by preparing and managing the annual budget, developing and managing forecasting requirements, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions as
  • Coordinate the functions required to efficiently process design changes from Design Engineering through Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Planning and Release, multiple internal Production Departments as well as external
  • Drive employee safety processes and systems within all production
  • Insure year over year efficiency and productivity



This position requires knowledge gained from previous plant leadership experience in a low volume, high complexity Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or a Tier-1 manufacturing organization with particular focus on quality, lean / continuous improvement / cost reduction within a lean operation.



This position requires a demonstrated experience in forecasting in a manufacturing setting, analysis of variance, development of an annual budget and scheduling expenditures. The ability to analyze operational KPIs, financial metrics to drive change and improvement is critical. Proven experience with structured change management principles is also critical. Proven, in-depth knowledge of manufacturing, assembly and painting processes (i.e. components manufacturing: robotic and manual welding, CNC machining, fabrication and laser cutting; complex assembly component manufacturing; highly automated liquid spray, power coat and dip tank paint processing.) Experience in balancing multiple priorities from multiple assembly and component manufacturing plants on one site.



The Director of Operations is a highly visible position in which the incumbent will interact on a regular basis with executive and senior management while facilitating local & corporate initiatives to ensure best in class operational results. This position is directly responsible for leading the efforts of approximately 1,000 hourly and salaried support employees.
